Time.com has an area of the website devoted photographic essays ranging in topic from the Attack on Pearl Harbor, Led Zeppelin, finding a great steak, to Barack Obama. The photographic style of these reports adds a certain amount of depth to subjects that have been covered in many different ways. Pictures have the ability of capturing one's attention and drawing one into the subject matter. A photo-essay can provide the audience with details that words cannot express. The combination of music and pictures, as in the Led Zeppelin piece, create an entirely new way to take in information. My favorite is the piece on Pearl Harbor; the raw pictures take me to an understanding beyond any history book, while the captions complete the story.
